IT ALL STARTED WITH TWO CHILDREN
I am a father. A father of two children with special needs. One son with autism. Another with cerebral palsy.
There is no manual for this. No course prepares you for the day you realize the world wasn't designed for your children. That sidewalks are narrow, schools are loud, and playgrounds weren't built for everyone.
But there is no stronger feeling than looking at these two children and knowing that, despite everything, they are complete. That they don't need to be "fixed." What needs to change is the world around them.
THE DAILY LIFE NOBODY SEES
Every day is a silent battle. Repeated therapy routines. Trips that require meticulous planning. Moments of frustration mixed with moments of pure joy.
My autistic son sees the world in a way few people understand. He notices details that go unnoticed. He hears sounds we don't even register. He processes information in a way that challenges all conventional logic.
My son with cerebral palsy faces physical limitations that make simple things — like holding a pencil, climbing a step, or simply standing up — into enormous achievements. But he achieves them. Every single day.
And it was while watching these daily achievements that the idea began to take shape.
THE QUESTION THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
One night, after yet another exhausting day of therapies, school, waiting lines, adaptations, and silent struggles, I asked myself a simple question:
What if there was a place — a digital space — where they could be who they are, without having to adapt?
The idea was not to build only a game catalog or another tool designed to "fix" people. It was to create a digital space for discovery and participation where different ways of interacting are respected.
That's when Lumnix started to take form.
THE BIRTH OF LUMNIX
Lumnix wasn't born from a startup. It wasn't born from investors. It wasn't born from strategic planning on a whiteboard.
It was born from a tired father who wanted to create something better for his children. Something accessible. Something that didn't demand performance. Something without rankings between people or pressure to perform.
A place where silence was welcome. Where colors spoke. Where sounds were chosen with care. Where technology could respond to the moment and preferences without taking autonomy away from the person using it.
The four categories — Fun, Create, Calm, and Learn — became the foundation of the experiences. Personalized Journeys can combine activities from these categories based on each person's goal and pace:
Fun — Interactive experiences for exploring, reacting, choosing, and trying strategies.
Create — A space where imagination takes shape. Where creating isn't productivity — it's expression. It's breathing.
Calm — Lower-intensity experiences for exploring sounds, colors, breathing, and pauses at your own pace.
Learn — Activities involving letters, numbers, memory, association, sequencing, and communication, without a mandatory school path.
INCLUSION IS NOT A FEATURE. IT'S THE PROJECT.
Most digital platforms think of accessibility as something added at the end. A high-contrast button. A screen reader. A caption here or there.
At Lumnix, inclusion and accessibility guide the project and continue to be improved across experiences.
Because I know what it's like to try to use something that wasn't made for your child. I know what it's like to see an "accessible" platform that in practice ignores half of the real needs. I know what it's like to feel that the digital world was designed for others — not for the ones I love.
Lumnix was created to be different. So that no child, no teenager, no adult ever feels that the digital space isn't for them.
WHAT LUMNIX IS NOT
It's important to say what Lumnix is not, because that's part of our identity:
It's not a therapy app. It doesn't replace healthcare professionals.
It is not a traditional LMS: there are no tests, certificates, or mandatory learning path.
Competition is not the center of the experience. Some activities use scores or immediate feedback, but there are no rankings between people.
It's not a social network. There are no likes, followers, or comparisons.
Lumnix is an invitation. A space to breathe, create, explore, and reconnect. Without pressure. Without judgment. At your own pace, in your own way.
WHO THIS MATTERS TO
If you are a parent of a child with special needs, you know what it's like to fight every day for a slightly more accessible world.
If you are a person with ASD, a physical disability, sensory overload, or simply someone who feels the world is too much sometimes — Lumnix was designed for you.
But actually, Lumnix is for everyone. Because we all need, at some point, a place where we don't have to perform. Where we don't have to be productive. Where we just need to exist.
AN INDEPENDENT PROJECT
Lumnix is an independent project. We have no investors. No commercial purposes. Every line of code, every color, every sound was carefully chosen to create a genuine experience.
If this story resonates with you, if you believe the digital world can be more human, more inclusive, more gentle — consider supporting the project. Any contribution helps keep Lumnix open and accessible for those who need it most.
THE FIRST STEP
This story doesn't end here. Actually, it's just beginning.
Lumnix was born from a father's love for his children. But it became something bigger: an invitation for all people to find a space of peace, creativity, and connection.
Enter Lumnix. Explore the jornadas. Stay as long as you want. There are no goals to achieve. The only message is: you are welcome exactly as you are.
And if, when you leave, you feel a little lighter — then Lumnix has done its job.
